Building a list with Twitter – Twitter Strategies

ListTwitter can be a traffic monster, if you know how to use it. But if it is in the wrong hands, it can be all the more destructive as well.

So, how are you using Twitter in your business?

I joined Twitter about 2 years back but did not tweet even once until about 7-8 months back.

I never realized the potential of Twitter. But when I did, my business exploded in just under 6 months.

This is the case with most of the people joining Twitter today. They join Twitter because somebody invited them. They then see the 140-word limit text box out there and grow suspicious at the power of this 140-word limit micro-blogging application. They then just leave their account as it is without too much of an activity.

They say that “the money is in the list”. So every business has to have a list in order to be successful. They have to have a list of prospective buyers to whom they can sell their products again and again. But, the hard fact is that this is the most difficult part in any business.

Twitter can help you with this “most difficult” activity. This is one area that people have yet not tapped completely.

How can you build a huge list with Twitter?

Twitter’s unique system of following people and getting followers is the key to building a list.

You can check out the new search interface at Twitter. You have a search box, in which you can type in anything related to the niche that you are promoting and hit the search button.

Twitter gives you a list of tweets that were specific to the keyword that you typed in the search box.

Browse through the profiles of these twitterers and add the ones that you think have enough activity at Twitter. Also ensure that you check out their follower is to following count. The ideal ratio is a 1:1 ratio. This means that the person follows people who are following him.

You can then start following them and wait for them to follow you. Once they have started following you, all that is required is a bit of Twitter etiquette to send out some useful and good tweets to them so that you gain their respect. In some time you have a huge list of people targetted to your niche to whom you can soft-market your products.

It sounds a bit difficult but it is actually not. Once you start using Twitter the way it should be used, you will start to realize the importance and the power of Twitter.
